My mission statement to you:
America, this Great Republic, is under attack from within, and I want my country back! In my opinion, weak Republicans are mostly responsible for where we are today. You cannot blame a Liberal for wanting to socialize this nation, that's what they do. The Republicans were supposed to stand up against them for what is right. THEY FAILED US! I want to assist the conservatives in strengthening the Republican party. We need to take back America from the current Marxist movement and Administration. Together, we can. Yes, WE can!
Unemployment Insurance ~ Expensive; But What's the Answer?
Our friends in congress have once again extended the unemployment benefits, now to over two years! Let's just all agree, if you can't find a job in two years, you're not looking hard enough! Now I am not making light of the terrible economy, brought on by bad policies of the Bush Administration and a weak-kneed Republican congress, and put on the express track by the Democratic controlled congress and this administration. However, taking money from producers to give to the unemployed is not a smart policy, economically or otherwise.
So what is the answer? In my opinion, it's simple. We call it "unemployment insurance", so why not make it actually like insurance. And let's eventually turn it over to the private sector, and soon! I don't think this one needs a really long and drawn out explanation, and I don't think it needs to be over-complicated. This one can be handled very easily, and with a predetermined drop-dead date, for instance the end of FY2012 (Sept. 30th 2012).
So, here is my proposal:
1. The first
eight weeks, full benefits as they are currently
promised.
2. The next six weeks, full benefits as you have been
receiving them,
however it is converted to a loan. The individual will
pay back 50% of
the money borrowed at 0% interest.
3. The next ten weeks, benefits will be paid at 75% of
what the individual
has been receiving, and 100% of the loan will be paid
back at
0% interest.
4. Time to get a job!
Now, is this plan that out of touch with reality? It assists the individual for nearly six months, and gives over two years for private insurance companies to run actuaries, come up with plans, figure rates/plans/payouts, etc. Again, people, we must get back to private control, not government intervention. It is necessary to save our Republic. Part of the problem with our society is the entitlement mentality. This current two year unemployment plan is a furthering of that mentality, whereby the federal government pays people not to go find a job. It must end, and this is my plan to combat the madness.
