DRILL HERE  -  DRILL NOW!

There should be ZERO limitations by the federal government (or even any state, but that would be their right) on a private company's ability to invest its own money and time into exploration for and processing of any legal product.  Oil and/or Natural Gas is no exception.  I will immediately start fighting to repeal any and all restrictions on these companies.  This will immediately lessen and eventually eliminate our dependence on foreign oil. 

With known supplies, we can self sustain for a minimum of 500 years, adjusting for the current rate of use and rate of growth.  Don't believe me?  According to John Hofmeister, Founder and CEO of Citizens for Affordable Energy, Inc., and the former President of Shell Oil, there are over 1 trillion barrels of shale in Colorado and 500 billion in the Western Dakotas and Eastern Montana.  At our current usage rate of 20.7 million barrels of oil per day, that gives us over 198 years from those reserves alone!  And that is before we have accounted for the oil in Wyoming, Texas, Oklahoma, etc.; let alone the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska!  Reliance on foreign oil is absolutely absurd and dangerous! 

Our dependence on foreign oil supports those who wish to do us harm.  We are LITERALLY funding our own demise and the murder of our troops in battle.  If we did not have our own supply available in our homeland, this would be an acceptable and necessary evil.  However, this is absolutely unnecessary, and therefore immoral in my opinion.  We need to immediately stop our use of foreign oil and DRILL OUR OWN RESOURCES!

UPDATE.......  As I write this, 10 May 2010, the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is still in the news headlines.  Numerous efforts to stop the leak have thus far failed.  While we obviously never seek to have such an event, sometimes, it happens.  The liberals will of course be hounding this for months to come, and the liberal media will be going along with them.  There will be bills passing through congress to stop any further expansion of off shore drilling.  This will be portrayed as the end of the ecological systems of the entire Gulf Coast.

Don't be fooled.  Do you believe that we, man, can destroy the earth?  Do you really think that this oil spill will ruin our civilization?  It will be an inconvenience, and will cause havoc on the local economy in the mean time; however, in the long run it is not as catastrophic as it will be made out to be.  When all is said and done, millions of barrels of oil will have been spilled.  There are TRILLIONS of gallons of water in the ocean!  Do you remember the Valdez oil spill?  The media had a hay-day with that one, showing people with Dawn dish detergent scrubbing rocks and pelicans.  But they only washed a small fraction of the spill.  What happened to the rest?  Low-and-behold, the earth cleansed it!  What a concept, the thought that the earth's "fragile ecosystem" could actually clean our mistakes!

Friends, I ask that you please think logically and not emotionally.  This oil spill will undoubtedly cause some discomfort to some people.  I am more concerned with the effects on the lives of American citizens than the environment.  We are human beings.  God Himself placed us at the top of the food chain for many reasons; one of which is because we have the ability to think logically.  We still need to drill our own oil.  We cannot simply continue to purchase our oil from those who wish to kill us because a pelican has raw crude on its wings!  I do not underestimate the damage nor take lightly the situation.  I simply do not think this is reason to panic.  We are simply a flea on the back of the earth.  We need to accept that.  The earth was created by God, for us.  The earth can absorb anything and everything we do to it.  We have neither the ability nor the capacity (even if it was our sole desire) to destroy this earth.  Eons after we are gone, the earth will still be spinning.  Let's not allow crooked politicians to sway our resolve.  August 5th is the date of the primary elections in Tennessee.  PLEASE get out and vote for Tracy C. Tarum in the Republican primary!  I promise you, I WILL continue in the push to allow our own oil companies to safely drill our own oil.  I will not be swayed by emotion.  We do not need more federal regulations on off-shore drilling, and we certainly don't need to stop it.  We need to accept this as an accident, learn from it, and press on.  Buying our most precious and necessary resource from our sworn enemies is STILL funding the destruction of our liberties.  The drilling must continue!

Oh, and by the way...why are they drilling miles off shore?  Why not on land or in the shallow waters where it's safer?  That would be your government regulations at work.  Do you feel safe?
